The Salute to Excellence Lifetime Leader Award is reserved for leaders who have over 15 years of experience.
This year Cindy Buckardt has been nominated for this award, and her application has been forwarded to both the state and national levels for an opportunity for further recognition.
Cindy is the main club organizational leader for the High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club. This club has grown to have 96 members. Cindy is a very dedicated leader who works hard to recruit other leaders to help support the club efforts. She has managed to identify 27 people within her club to serve as adult leaders.
Cindy is also a certified shooting sports leader, supporting regular archery practices. She also serves on the Larimer County 4-H Foundation board and was just voted into the President role.
Cindy also plays a major role in supporting all general projects for the county fair. She helps set up, coordinate, and execute interview judging day. Then she coordinates tear down, reset up for county fair display, and double checks all judging books for clarity. Meanwhile, she juggles her schedule to also help with livestock check-in. Cindy recruits and helps to set up the fairgrounds office, carnival packets for clubs, and much more.
Cindy serves on the Livestock Sale committee and takes on major tasks to support the efforts of the market program.
Cindy is always willing to help and call upon her club members to support a request like teaching a workshop at Fiber Fun Fest.
In her 24 years as a leader in Larimer County, there are very few things Cindy has NOT helped out with. She has been an exceptional leader to work with and someone who is more than deserving of this special Leader of the Year award.
Thank you, Cindy, for all that you do!
(Thank you to Lacey Adams for sharing her speech to appear in this post.)
The High Country Handiworkers 4-H club was chartered in 1980 and is located in Larimer County, Colorado.
