The meeting of the High Country Handiworkers was called to order at 7:04 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 by President Brooke Carlson.
Pledges were led by Gideon Rivera and Cora Cox.
Roll call taken by secretary, Lacey Adams, with the question, “What is your favorite candy?”
Gideon Rivera moved to approve the minutes from the January meeting as published on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED.
Nate Rogers presented the treasurer’s report. The club savings account has $2,185.09 and the club checking account has $4,730.67.
Cael Claude and Brice Caffey presented the sunshine report. There were three birthdays for February. They also passed around two cards for Paula Morehouse thanking her for her service to 4-H.
Lacey Adams and the Cloverbud members that were present gave the Cloverbud report. The Cloverbuds reported that they learned the difference between baking powder and baking soda. Then they learned how a balloon can inflate with just vinegar and baking soda. They also made lemon soda and had snack.
The leader’s report was an activity called “get to know your fellow club members.”
Enrollment – The deadline for new members to enroll is March 1. March 1 is also the deadline to add and/or drop projects.
4-H Carnival Ticket Sales – The sale at King Soopers on Eagle Drive was reviewed.
Foods Field Trip – Foods project members, or anyone who wants to attend, are invited to RISE Artisan Bread in Berthoud on Monday, February 19 from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Please RSVP to Trista Claude.
Truck Raffle – Club activity leader and State Foundation board member Rob Ryan presented information about the Truck Raffle fundraiser for the State Foundation.
4-H Carnival – The carnival is on March 3 from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Go to the club website under Signups to choose a shift to work at the club booths. Cindy also needs help hauling the club booths and materials to the First National Building on Friday, March 2.
NRA Banquet – A motion was made to support our shooting sports club leaders who wish to attend the NRA Banquet on March 23. The cost of a ticket is $50 per person. The club will cover half of the cost of a ticket, $25 per shooting sports leader. Seconded and APPROVED.
Upcoming Dates –
Archery orientation on February 20 at 6:00 p.m.
Beef weigh day on February 20 from 4:00–7:00 p.m.
MQA/PQA on February 24 from 10:00–2:30 p.m.
There were no demonstrations.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 p.m. Seconded and APPROVED.
