February 2019 Meeting Minutes

The meeting of High Country Handiworkers was called to order at 7:05 p.m. on February 11, 2019 by President Brooke Carlson.

The pledges were led by Eden Copeland, Ethan Osusky, and Victoria Freeland.

Roll call was taken by Secretary Grace Gray and the question asked was, “What grade you are in and what school you go to?”

Sydney Gray moved to approve the minutes as posted on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED.

The treasurer’s report was given by Cindy Buckardt: checking = $6,634.31 and savings =$2,324.98 as we earned $0.30 in interest.

The reporter’s report was given by Walker Cameron. January’s meeting report was submitted to the Coloradoan and Reporter-Herald as well as social media and the club’s website.

The sunshine report was presented by Eden Copeland. We had one January birthday. Cards were circulated for member signatures.

Cindy Buckardt gave the Cloverbud Report. The Cloverbuds made hot chocolate Christmas ornaments and played Stock Show bingo.

The club also went over Parliamentary Procedure which was led by Rob Ryan.

Leader’s Report:

Enrollment – Due March 1, and if you would like to drop or add projects, please email Cindy by March 1.

4-H Carnival Booth Shifts – There is a SignUpGenius on the club website to fill shifts for the 4-H Carnival.  

Outdoor Skills orientation — February 21 at 6:30 p.m. It is required for members to take part in discipline practices.

New Business:

4-H Carnival – On February 27 at 6:30 p.m. Cindy is having a prize review for the clubs booths at her shop. On March 1 at 5:15 p.m. Cindy needs help to load the booths and to meet at the Ranch at 6:00 p.m. for set up. The club needs more items for the baskets for the auction hosted during the carnival. The basket themes are Dog Lover, Colorado Sports, and Camping. There is also a bake sale so bring a baked good wrapped individually. After the carnival is over there will be a dance hosted by the Exchange Club at 5:30 p.m.

Club T-Shirts – It’s time to create a design for the Club’s shirts. If you have any ideas have them ready to present at next month’s meeting.

NRA Banquet – There will be a NRA banquet on March 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Marriott. Doug Porter moved and approved to fund $25 to the Shooting Sports leaders in our club as well as Sam and Ian Webb so they can attend the banquet.

Demonstrations:

  • Eden Copeland about what you can do with different tips for cake decorating.

Walter Buckardt moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:59 p.m. Seconded and APPROVED.

Members decorated and enjoyed cookies in celebration of Valentine’s Day this week.
