July 2018 Meeting Minutes

The meeting of the High Country Handiworkers was called to order at 7:12 p.m. on July 16, 2018 by President Brooke Carlson.

The pledges were led by all members who needed leadership for their record book.

Grace Gray moved to approve the minutes from the June meeting as published on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED.

The treasurer’s report was given by Nate Rogers: checking account = $3,866.66 and savings account = $2,323.26.

Reporter, Walker Cameron, submitted last month’s meeting report to the Coloradoan and the Reporter-Herald, and our website and Facebook

The sunshine report was led by Vice President Breelyn Caffey in the absence of Brice Caffey and Cael Claude. We combined July and August birthdays, so we had a total of 8 birthdays for both months.

The Cloverbud report was presented by Cloverbud leader Lacey Adams. At June’s meeting, the Cloverbuds decorated white T-Shirts with red, white, and blue paint. At July’s meeting, the Cloverbuds decorated leather coasters for their fair projects.

Leaders Report:

Extension Agent – Keeton Ehrig who was in charge of shooting sports and livestock resigned. Megan Blaser will be handling a lot of the activities.

Interview Judging – Sign-up opens on July 25 at 12:00 a.m. Help would be appreciated for interview judging day and the next day to help set up the exhibit hall.

Old Business:

Dress Code – Remember the 4-H dress code throughout fair.

Fair Parade – Members need to be at the fairgrounds park at 8:00 a.m. on July 28. Bella Kendrot moved to purchase candy to pass out during the parade not to exceed $100 on candy. Seconded and APPROVED. A discussion followed about the float theme and float ideas led by activity leader Rob Ryan. July 27 is the float building at Construction Supply House at 6:00 p.m. Pizza will be provided by the club.

Truck Raffle – Go on the club website to sign up to help sell truck raffle tickets.

Demonstrations:

  • Jacob Simpson on how to do leathercraft.
  • Tate Simpson on how to load a muzzleloader.
  • Martha Simpson on safety rules for shooting sports.
  • Doug Porter on the supplies you need for fair to show market swine.
  • Taylor Trull on how to clean a muzzleloader.
  • Stanley Rhodes on how to keep your rabbit cool in the summertime.
  • Ella Craft on rabbits.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 8:51 p.m. Seconded and APPROVED.
