June 2017 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. on June 12, 2017 by President Brooke Carlson in the McKee Building.

Pledges were led by Martha and Jacob Simpson.

Roll call was taken by the secretary, Mackinzie Porter. The minutes from the April and May meetings were approved as posted on the club website.

The treasurer’s report was given by Nate Rogers. The club has $2,154.36 in the checking account and $2,183.89 in the savings account.

The sunshine report was given by Cael Claude and there were four June birthdays in the club. Cards were also circulated thanking those companies that made donations for our community service project at Lon Hagler.

The Cloverbuds gave the report from their previous meeting where they planted flowers for Mother’s Day. 

Leader’s Report:

Performing Arts Competition – Grace Claude won champion in a dance category and will now be performing at the state fair.

Cake Decorating Contest – Walter Buckardt won a champion award and will be competing at the state fair.

Old Business:

Record Books – Club leader Cindy Buckardt asked if anyone was in the need of assistance with e-records and reminded members where to find the links to download the documents.

Bowling Night – Recap of the bowling night. The club said it was “tons of fun!”

Golf Tournament – The club had a group of volunteers at the Colorado Foundation Memorial Golf Tournament fundraiser held in Windsor. Those that participated enjoyed the event.

New Business:

Parade Float – Andrea Newby moved to have the club spend $25.00 for the entrance fee for a float in the Larimer County Fair parade. Seconded and APPROVED.

Fair Entry Forms – Fair entry deadline is July 17.

Volunteers for Interview Judging and Project Setup – Leader Cindy Buckardt is seeking volunteers to help with the county fair on August 1–2. Go to the website to find a SignUpGenius.

Livestock News – Non meat goats check-in on August 1. Meat goats check-in on August 2. Sheep/poultry/swine/rabbit check-in on August 4. The livestock sale will be on August 9.

Truck Raffle – Need volunteers to sell tickets during the fair. A SignUpGenius will be created on the club website. This is our club’s only fundraiser and the funds from the tickets sales support the Colorado State 4-H Foundation.

Discounted Rodeo/Carnival – August 7 is 4-H night at the rodeo. Tickets this year will be $10. each and must be bought by July 25.  Cindy submits the total purchase as a club. Bands for unlimited rides at the carnival are $25.00 for a one day pass.

Demonstrations were presented by Brice and Breelyn Caffey on Shotgun, Opal Kroger on her Rex Rabbit, Stanley Rhoades on Grooming a Rabbit, Violet Kroger on parts of a compound bow, Grace and Cael Claude on Leathercraft, Kendrick and Clara Coats on meat chickens and how to take care of baby chicks, Hannah and Grace Gray on Market Heifer, Martha and Jacob Simpson on recurve versus compound bows,
Tyler and Sullivan Rhoades on livestock record books.

Breelyn Caffey moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:47 p.m. Seconded and APPROVED.
