October 2018 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by President Brooke Carlson.

Pledges were led by Cael Claude and Marley Gebhardt.

Roll call was taken and the question was “What was your greatest accomplishment this past year in 4-H?”

Walker Cameron moved to approve the minutes as published on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED.

Treasurer’s report by Nate Rogers: savings = $2,323.91 and checking = $3,265.81.

Reporter’s report by Walker Cameron: all reports were submitted to the Reporter-Herald and the Coloradoan and also posted on our social media pages.

Sunshine report by Cael Claude: we had three birthdays for August, September, and October. We passed around a thank you card for Pam for all she does, another thank you card for Megan for all the hard work she did at fair, a farewell card to Keeton who had to move just before fair, and lastly, a get well card for a 4-H mom who is struggling with cancer.

Cloverbuds report by Lacey Adams: In September the Cloverbuds had a meeting on fire safety and then on October 5 they went on a field trip to Fire Station 3 in Loveland and had a tour of the station. 

Leaders Report:

Renewing Leaders – All leaders need to take the refresher course for the new year before enrolling on 4honline.

Shooting Sports Leader Meeting – There is a shooting sports meeting on Thursday, October 18 at 6:30 p.m. to review the shooting sports handbook for 2019.

No Early County Shoots – FYI for shooting sports participants: there will no longer be any early county shoots. Please look at the Shooting Sports calendar now and save the dates now.

Leathercraft and Cloverbud Meeting Change – Leathercraft meetings and Cloverbuds meetings this year are the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Old Business:

Fair Recap – Fair recap and along with that we read all the thank you cards from kids at fair that had received the awards our club sponsored

Truck Raffle Ticket – Reminder that this is our club’s main fundraiser and we need all members to participate in the selling of the tickets.

Livestock Record Books – Livestock record books have been turned in for the competition. A reminder: all livestock participants are expected to complete record books.

New Business:

Enrollment – Enrollment opens October 16 everyone needs to enroll.

Turning Pens for the Troops – Stay tuned for pen turning community service project in November.

Achievement Night – Achievement Night will be Friday, November 2 at 6:30 p.m. Please come and support those who are getting an award and support our fellow club members as well.

4-H Carnival – Save the date for the 4-H Carnival on March 2, 2019.

Club T-Shirts – Think of ideas for club t-shirts and bring them to the next meeting.

Officer Elections – Elections are coming up in December. Start thinking about the offices if you want to run.

Club Requirements – We chatted about expectations and how to address getting everyone to complete their project. Because that is part of a member’s job.

Club Achievement Night at November Meeting – We will celebrate our club’s achievement night at the November meeting. Don’t miss out on the club’s and members’ achievements.

Demonstrations:

  • Walter Buckardt about channel catfish.
  • Alexis Grundy about the tools you need to groom a horse.

There was a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded and APPROVED. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
